How to Grow Longer + Thicker Eyelashes/Eyebrows

August 30, 2016

Today I wanted to share my little secret to growing out my lashes and brows because I'm sure we've all had that oops! moment where we accidentally took off a little too much brow, or maybe you're like me and your eyelashes despise you more and more with every added coat of mascara. Whatever the case may be, I have been using the same thing for YEARS to help strengthen and grow both my eyebrows and eyelashes, and so far, it has yet to let me down!

So what is this "mystery" miracle in a bottle?!

I've been using castor oil ever since I started high school, and within a few days (I'd say within 3 days) of using it on my lashes and brows, I noticed almost immediate results.

Castor oil is extracted from the castor seed by cold pressing the seeds. It is said to contain approximately 90% ricinoleic acid, a fatty acid that is said to make castor oil the miracle oil that it is. The oil contains omega-6 fatty acids, vitamin E, proteins, and minerals all vital for promoting the health of your hair and scalp.

Benefits of Castor Oil
- helps with hair regrowth
- makes the hair richer and darker
- treats dandruff and dry scalp
- moisturizes the hair and makes it shine
- prevents split ends
- works in an anti-fungal and antibacterial way

When an oil is labeled as cold pressed, that simply means the seeds/nuts of that plant were crushed in order to force the oil out. Heat is usually generated through friction as the press (mechanism used to extract the oil) breaks down the seeds, but this small amount of heat is usually not enough to damage the oil. Because this process involves very little heat, it tends to enhance the flavour, aroma and nutritional content of the oil, unlike hot-pressed oils. When tested, scientists found greater quantities of antioxidants in cold pressed oils, as compared to most commercially offered formulas.

Because I only use castor oil to stimulate the growth of my eyebrow and eyelash hairs, my application process is fairly simple and quick.

Before I go to bed, I simply take a Q-tip (you really do not need to use a eyelash spoolie for this), place a bit of the oil on it, then I proceed to fully coat my lashes and brows. I've filmed a little video (linked below) explaining and showing all of this, so be sure to check that out to see exactly what I do. Then I just go to sleep and let the oil work its magic. I repeat this every night; sometimes I get a bit lazy and skip applying the oil before bed, but if you do this, it's honestly fine. You DO NOT have to apply castor oil EVERY SINGLE NIGHT before bed. Apply it as often as you like for desired results.

Within the first week of consistently applying the oil to your eyelashes and eyebrows, there should be a noticeable difference. I saw results within 3 days when I started using the oil again.

I hope this was helpful to those of you struggling to find an easy, cheap, home remedy for growing back your lashes and brows fast! :)
