I'm No Puppet!

March 27, 2015

Hello lovelies! I realise it has been quite some time since my last post ("quite some time" equaling 3 months..oops). I promise I will try my very hardest to get better at this. But please don't hold me to that. At least not right now.

But enough with the apologies and let's just get right to it. What could have possibly awakened me from my Blogger coma you ask? Oh, well let me just share a smidgen of what I have miraculously learned from a rather annoying week (might I add, this week was also the week of my spring break, but allow me to refrain from boring you with such trivial details).

I have never been one to be overly enthralled with the opinions of others when it comes to personal decisions I have made, seeing as those decisions directly impact my life. And while I understand that, for many, when you make certain choices in life you must do so with discretion as it may automatically impact those around you. But in my very unique case, my actions and ultimate decision in choosing to live my life they way I saw best fit, did not negatively affect anyone I hold near and dear to my heart (however frozen it may be).

In fact, those whose opinions hold any value to me where unfazed by the situation (I have just decided, in the last 30 seconds, to refer to this particular annoyance as such)

To pretty much sum up what happened, without actually divulging any real details, someone who has no grasp on the concept of minding their own business came down with a serious case of "let-me-step-out-of-line-and-tell-other-people-how-to-live-THEIR-life." I would understand their argument, if only they had one or a single valid point. But to gripe about something that in no way, shape, or form has anything to do with them, was truly amusing to me. And by amusing I mean frustrating. Totally and utterly aggravating to my already bothered little head.

But the things is, and I have come to learn this the hard way, just because people "know" you or are a part of any aspect of your life in the slightest, they automatically feel entitled to share their opinions about the way you choose to live your life. And while most times their "advice" is most certainly unwarranted and unwanted, the ball is in your court when it comes to handling people like this. It is all on you to come to the realisation, that to let such negativity affect you, gives others power over you (and ain't nobody got time for that. You gotta keep it moving babe!).

Do not let others write your story! What's that good ole' saying, "Opinions are like assholes, everybody has one."

To let another person "dictate your pace" (as some would say) is the universal declaration that you are no longer a human being with a brain of your own, but you are in fact a puppet, dangling from knotted threads. When people have something unfavourable to say about the way you go about living your life... strut your stuff in the opposite direction.

My Motto
And I'll do me...
